Sprucing Up The Old Leather Sofa

Our leather sofa is well loved.  It holds our entire family while we watch TV and gather together in our family room.  One thing I noticed was that it looked like a big brown blob and not that attractive with the wear and tear it takes from real life with 5 kids, a cat and 2 dogs.  I started gathering throw pillows and blankets at Ross the past few months and what a difference it made.

Here is what you saw when you came in the family room before.

Even if I could go buy a new sofa I wouldn’t because again real life happens in this home.  I started by slowly adding pillows I found at Ross.  I looked for not only colors that blended with the wall color I painted 18 months ago (Rocky Mountain Sky by Behr) but, I also looked for fun unique textures and different sizes to spread through out the leather sectional sofa.

Again, real life means most all these pillows end up on the ground through out the day because kids think it is much better to lay on the floor and use my pretty pillows for head rests. Or, they get thrown at someone or get kicked to the floor. I am constantly picking them up when the kids are around but, I really don’t mind when I’ve only spent $12.99 or under on them.  I realized the soft cozy blankets were being stolen off my couch so, I started collecting those too.

Who can’t resist a really soft cozy blanket for only $15.99 and the rules are it is Mom’s only!  We love curling up under the soft blankets for winter TV watching and what better way to spruce up the old sofa with some fun textures. I love the softness and ruffles of the cream throw blanket that hangs over the leather chair as well.  I purchased my throw blankets at you guessed it Ross.  It is my favorite store for finding in expensive yet unique home décor items.  You never know what you might find and it is always an adventure shopping the store.

The best part is these pillows and blankets get used and well loved making our home a comfortable place to be as a family. When these pillows get beat up and no longer cleanable I can get new ones and can change things up again. 

Okay, I admit I have an addiction to collecting inexpensive, good quality and comfy throw pillows and blankets!  What else do ya’ll collect for your homes décor wise that makes your home feel like home?
