I was so excited learning how to print on Burlap with my computer printer when I made my Homemade Burlap Print that I decided to keep creating that day and made a Burlap Pennant Banner. I choose the word LOVE for Valentines Day but, I plan to make more for different Holidays and you could adapt the method for Holiday’s, Birthday’s, Wedding’s, Baby Shower’s and personalizing any bedroom decor.
You will need Burlap, Freezer Paper, Computer, Printer, Twine or Jute and Sewing Machine or Needle and Thread.
So first you will have to refer to my Homemade Burlap Print for the complete instructions of ironing on your freezer paper to your Burlap to create an 8.5×11 burlap freezer paper sheet.
Next put your burlap/freezer paper into your printer…only make sure you have it loaded the correct way for it to feed and print on the Burlap. {I realized after I took this picture mine was loaded upside down.}
Create your bunting banner on your computer. I’ve posted the 2 files you can try to copy and use if you want the word LOVE on your banner. I printed 2 sheets of burlap with one having LO and the other had VE.
So you should have something like this below. I don’t think I’ve had my burlap pushed back in the paper feeder enough so it cut off part of the printing…no fear though because I just trimmed off the black outline anyway and created equal size pennants.
Here I have all my pennants cut out.
Next, I stitched around the edges of each pennant with my sewing machine using red thread. It got dark so I didn’t get a good picture of this step. You don’t have to but, I would suggest it to keep it from fraying.
I used a red clothes line twine I picked up from the dollar store and stitched the pennants with my sewing machine to the twine.
I love it with my Heart Felt Garland I made a few weeks ago strung across my mantel. Again endless possibilities of banners you could create for any holiday.
