Burlap & Puff Pennant Garland

I was asked to help with a bridal shower last week and decided I would put together what I am calling my Burlap and Puff Pennant Garland. It is a combination of my Burlap Pennant Banner and Pom-Pom Puff’s.

Doesn’t it remind you a little of my favorite show Downton Abbey and the weddings? I loved the town adorned with white pennant flags and this is my twist on that.

Super easy and inexpensive to make. You need a package of coffee filters, burlap, jute, stapler and scissors.

You will start by compiling coffee filters in groups of 10. I enlisted the help of my younger children to separate and crinkle up all 200 coffee filters.  They had it done in a flash.  You can check out my tutorial with more detail how to make them that I did last fall. Then I stapled 2 staples and cut a hole in the center for the jute to go through. When I strung them I crinkled them and puffed them out.

Next I cut out Pennant Flags from Burlap.  It is hard to see in the picture because I had cream burlap but, I also stitched white thread around the edges with the sewing machine to help it not shed. It would be cute to sew with thread that was a coordinating party color. I cut 2 slits (one on each side towards the top) to string the jute through.

I strung alternating Puff’s and Burlap Pennant Flags. I had 200 coffee filters that made 20 Puff’s and I sewed 16 Burlap Pennant Flags. I did 4 strands of Garland each having 5 Puff’s and 4 Flags.

You can use the natural coffee filters and darker brown burlap for a more rustic feel. I’ve seen tutorials on dying the coffee filters different colors or use tissue paper. This makes a great party décor for baby or bridal showers and really any kind of party or wedding you could use these for.

Super easy and under $10 under an hour to make all 4 Garlands. They were such a hit at the bridal shower that I am going to make a few more strands for her to decorate her reception hall with. I think they would be fun strung across with lights as well.

The bridal shower was super cute and I plan on showing you some more of the fun Bridal Shower ideas that they did.
